Zelenskyy Backs Freezing Front Line as First Step Toward Ukraine Ceasefire
· World · Euronews, Hindustan Times
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that halting fighting along the current front line is the most realistic route to ending the war with Russia and opening the way for ceasefire talks. Speaking on US broadcaster Fox News, Zelenskyy insisted that Kyiv must be directly involved in any negotiations and requires solid security guarantees from the United States and European allies. The remarks coincide with talks held by US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg. Meanwhile, a dispute has emerged after Kyiv accused Washington of deliberately slowing Starshield, the SpaceX-operated military communications system used by Ukrainian forces. Zelenskyy noted that while services remain limited, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured him that his team would work to unblock the communications network.
Why it matters
The proposed freeze on front-line combat and ongoing discussions over military satellite access directly impact Ukraine's defense capabilities and the diplomatic framework for ending the conflict.
