Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hosted leaders from seven regional countries in western Ukraine's Ivano-Frankivsk region for the inaugural summit of the Carpathian Eight on Friday. The newly formed group includes Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary, alongside European Union representatives. The talks focused on strengthening cross-border cooperation in security, energy, logistics, and support for local communities. Meanwhile, overnight Russian airstrikes targeted multiple regions across Ukraine, resulting in two deaths and two injuries in the Zhytomyr region and destroying a shopping complex in Zaporizhzhia. In response, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that air defenses intercepted 629 Ukrainian drones overnight across 14 Russian regions, annexed Crimea, and surrounding seas.
